What's New - Minimum Months Increment Field for AL2 and AL3 annual leave entitlement computation in PayAdvisorMobile®

We have added a new feature - the Minimum Months to Complete Before Increment field -- for the AL2 and AL3 Annual Leave Entitlement Computation in PayAdvisorMobile®. This enhancement gives HR administrators greater flexibility in configuring when employees become eligible for their next leave entitlement increment.

Whether your organisation follows an annual increment cycle, a bi-annual review schedule, or needs to factor in probation periods, this field provides the control you need to align the system with your company's policies.

How the Min Months Increment Field Works

The Minimum Months Increment field allows you to specify the minimum number of completed months of service required before an employee's annual leave entitlement advances to the next tier. This is applied within the AL2 and AL3 computation methods.

How It Works

Configuration Options

The Minimum Months Increment field supports several configuration scenarios to accommodate different organisational policies:

Configuration Value Behaviour
Annual Increment 12 months Leave entitlement increments once every 12 months of completed service
Bi-Annual Review 6 months Leave entitlement can increment every 6 months for more frequent reviews
Probation Period 3 months Employees must complete at least 3 months before their first leave increment applies
Custom Period Any value Set to any number of months to match your company's specific policy

Use Cases

This feature is designed to accommodate a variety of real-world scenarios that Singapore businesses commonly face:

Annual Increment

The most common configuration. Employees receive an additional day of annual leave entitlement after completing each full year of service. Set the minimum months value to 12 to enforce this rule. For example, an employee who joins in March will only see their leave entitlement increase the following March.

Bi-Annual Review

Some organisations prefer to review and adjust leave entitlements twice per year. By setting the minimum months to 6, the system will allow entitlement to advance every half-year, giving employees more frequent recognition of their tenure.

Probation Confirmation

Companies that want to ensure employees have completed their probation before any leave entitlement increment kicks in can set this field to match the probation period (typically 3 or 6 months). This prevents premature entitlement adjustments for new hires still in their probationary period.

Contract-Based Roles

For contract employees with specific tenure milestones, the minimum months field can be set to align with contract review periods, ensuring that leave entitlement increments only occur at contractually agreed intervals.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Follow these steps to configure the Minimum Months Increment field in your PayAdvisorMobile® system:

  1. Navigate to Leave Settings
Go to Administration Leave Setup Annual Leave Entitlement in your PAM web portal.
  2. Select the Computation Method
Choose either AL2 or AL3 as your annual leave computation method. The Min. Months Increment field is available for both methods.
  3. Enter the Minimum Months Value
In the Min. Months to Complete Before Increment field, enter the number of months employees must complete before their leave entitlement can advance. For example, enter 12 for annual increments.
  4. Configure the Entitlement Tiers
Set up your leave entitlement tiers as usual (for example, Year 1: 7 days, Year 2: 8 days, and so on). The minimum months field works in conjunction with these tiers to determine when an employee advances.
  5. Save and Verify
Save your configuration and verify by checking a sample employee's leave entitlement to confirm the system applies the minimum months rule correctly.

Note

The Minimum Months Increment field is applicable to AL2 and AL3 computation methods only. If your organisation uses AL1, this field is not available. Please contact our support team if you need guidance on which computation method is best suited for your company's leave policy.
